Original Item: Only One Available. The HGU-84/P Commercial Helmet Assembly is designed to provide eye, ear, and head protection when properly assembled and fitted to the aircrew member. It has a light-weight helmet shell constructed of graphite, ballistic nylon, fiberglass, and epoxy resin.The helmet assembly was available in four sizes (medium, large, X-large, and X-large wide), and is form-fitted. Its stability is enhanced by an integrated chin/nape strap assembly. The helmet assembly also houses the headset communications and allows for the use of clear or sun shade visor assemblies. The helmet is designed to permit the use of the MBU-17/P oxygen mask if required.
This example is in very good condition and consists of a Gentex manufactured HGU 84/P Flight Helmet in size LARGE, with an intact manufacturer tag under the lining. It has complete avionics, with headphones, microphone, and even has a small battery powered LED light attached to the boom mic. The helmet is definitely designed for rotor wing / helicopter use, and has both a clear and tinted visor attached. These are attached with elastic straps to stacked snaps on the sides of the helmet. The chin strap for the helmet is intact and functional. The helmet outer shell is entirely covered in white reflective tape, something we see often, which makes the helmet very visible in the light when it is dark.
