Original U.S. Early WWII Navy Command Officer Blue Combination Visor Cap

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of a WWII U.S. Navy Command Officer "Complete" Cap, also called the "Combination" cap. Naval officers wore a variety of different colored uniforms in service, for different locations and occasions, so a cap was designed that could utilize various removable covers to match the uniform. The standard colors were White, Khaki, Navy Blue, and Gray. The U.S. Coast Guard also wore the same caps, however they use a different cap badge with a larger eagle and a single anchor instead of two.

This is a totally correct high quality genuine World War II U.S. Navy Command officer complete visor hat. It features a wonderful heavy high quality embroidered eagle cap badge, with the correct felt top visor bearing gold bullion Oak Leaf "Scrambled Egg" appointments. These indicate that the wearer was a "Command" officer, with the rank of Commander or Captain in the U.S. Navy. It has the correct gold bullion chin strap, secured by the correct naval buttons. The cap currently has a dark navy blue felt cover installed. There are no manufacturers markings that we can see anywhere on the cap. There looks to be a name written onto the sweatband, however it is unclear unfortunately.

The sweatband is supple leather, and is in good shape, though it has worn through opposite one of the chin strap buttons. Overall cap is in good condition, with only standard age related degradation and light mothing. There is some more serious degradation around the front insignia, where the cap band has pulled apart, with additional damage from mothing.

A nice early WWII pattern Navy Officer's cap, ready to display!
