Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Original Early Vietnam War Era U.S. Signal Corps RT-175/PRC-9 Radio Receiver and Transmitter. This equipment has not been tested by IMA but we were told it is functional. However, we will not guarantee functionality and a battery is not included. This set would often come as a backpack, but this example has none of the rigging, but does retain the handset and antenna.
The data plate on the side reads:
SIGNAL CORPS U.S. ARMY
RADIO REC-XMTR RT-175/PRC-9
SERIAL NO. 1981 ORDER NO 15178-PHILA-52
RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA
The set is offered in very good condition, with the expected wear from use and age. It still retains the original data label, indicating the order number and manufacture date, 1952, serial number 1981, and that it was made by RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Both of the fold out legs on the bottom of the battery compartment are present and functional. This set retains the original handset which is marked on the side:
HANDSET H-33F/PT
AUDIOSEARS CORP.
ORDER NO. DLA 900-79-C2743 U.S.
The AN/PRC-9 came into the Army inventory in March, 1951. It is a 16 tube FM radio which was used as a squad radio. It is part of a family of radios AN/PRC-8, AN/PRC-9, and AN/PRC-10 which differ only in the frequency of operation and the components that determine that frequency.
Comes more than ready for display.
