Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice Korean Era 48 Star American Flag, in a nice large 40" x 71" size, about 3.3 x 6 feet. The flag body is of multi-piece nylon construction, with the stars separate pieces sewn on, with a sturdy canvas header. The general rule of thumb is that cotton flags were issued during WWII and nylon flags were issued during the Korean War. Flags made prior to WWII were made of a wool blend.
The header has a maker label which reads:
"PERMA-NYL"
100% NYLON
Valley Forge Flag Co.
SPRING CITY, PA.
Over this, it looks to be ink stamped with size 3.52 X 6.69 FT, one of the standard flag sizes, however this flag is somewhat under that size, so it may have shrunk somewhat.
The flag is in very good condition, with just minor staining and age toning. The canvas header is in great shape, and there is still an intact halyard, which has a brass ring on the top, and a brass spring clip on the bottom at the end of an 18" extension.
A very nice example, ready to display!
