Item Description
Original Item: One Only. Much like our European cousins in the 1880s, the U.S.Army started to adopted spiked pith helmets, often in white, with all brass mounts and occasionally plumes. These saw active service in the Spanish American War of 1898 especially in the tropical climate in Cuba.
In size 7, complete with leather sweat band, the helmet boasts a Spike to its top mount and shows a small Medical Cross as it's helmet plate. The buttons over the ears also show the sign of a medical cross.
In basically very nice condition there is one small split in the cork type brim just behind the right ear. Very hard to find Medical Helmet. Known as the Model of 1881, this helmet is still in fine condition and ready to display
