Original U.S. Pennsylvania Percussion Rifle with Set Trigger by Henry E. Leman of Lancaster PA

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This just came out of the attic after a hundred years of storage, together with a couple of hundred other guns. Here is an octagonal barreled Rifled "Kentucky" style rifle, which more correctly is known as a Pennsylvania Rifle. It was made by H.E. LEMAN of LANCASTER, PA., as is marked on the lock plate. The Rifled .36 caliber octagonal barrel is 34" long and measures 50" in overall length. The barrel is named W K STRONG on its top flat, perhaps indicating the name of its original Owner. The stock is 1/2 stocked and the rifle is all brass mounted.

HENRY E LEMAN worked in Lancaster from 1812 until 1887, but we feel this rifle started life as a Percussion weapon, and not a conversion from Flintlock. Interestingly the rifle has been, since new, fitted with a "set trigger" depressing the rear trigger first until it clicks and just touching the front trigger discharges the weapon, hopefully with great accuracy. There is a minor split in the lower rear toe of the butt stock, easily repaired with a good glue and clamps. Also the fore stock retaining pin is missing, but could easily be replaced.

A most attractive attractive Pennsylvania Long Rifle, ready to display!
