Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This just came out of the attic after a hundred years of storage, together with a couple of hundred other guns. It is a full stocked Trade Musket, made using a trade lock by R. ASHMORE of ENGLAND, as marked on the lock plate over WARRANTED. The stock is very nice, with a great color, all brass mounted with an engraved escutcheon on the wrist. This is surrounded by a bit of wire inlay.
The barrel is 40 inches long, and actually is originally from a Contract Springfield Model 1822 Flintlock Musket, and is marked and dated P M / L.H 1824 on the breech. It has had a cap lock bolster added into the touch hole. The musket's overall length is 56" and it is easy to see that such a weapon could easily have also seen service in some Militia outfit too.
Very attractive and in great condition! Ready to display!
