Original Item: One of a Kind. Just come to light from an old Estate Collection, this is a wonderful Soldier’s Cow Horn Powder Flask from the U.S. Colonial / Revolutionary War Era. Measuring about 14 inches in overall length, it has an intricately carved wooden bottom plug, held in place by the correct period type nails. It is otherwise unadorned, except for some bevels around the spout.
The horn retains the wooden plug, attached to a ring around the spout by a chain. There is another chain, which was most likely used to run a strap to the metal loop on the end plug, but that is now missing.
