Original U.S. Soviet Swedish Spanish WWII and Cold War Military Helmet Lot - Set of 5

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very nice collection of helmets from various time periods and countries. All helmets are complete with liners and are offered in great condition. This is a wonderful lot to pick up if you are looking to either start collecting helmets or are just wanting to add these really nice examples to your already existing ones.

The following five helmets are included in this lot:

- WW2 Swedish M37: This is a complete and beautiful Swedish M37 Helmet. The M37 (Also known as M1937) helmet is a military steel combat helmet used by Swedish armed forces. Replacing the M1926 helmet, the M1937 would be modernized in 1965 and see use into the 1990s with its replacement by the M1990 Kevlar helmet.

- WW2 Spanish M42 “Modelo Z”: This is a very nice Spanish made copy of the German M35 (M40) Stahlhelm, without a badge. The M42 was of markedly lower quality, made of thinner and lower quality steel. This made it prone to dents and damage. Featuring ventilation holes with stamped rims much like the German M40, and a raw edge like the M42 without the slight flaring characteristic of the German model. The liner was similar to that of the previous M26 and M21 helmets, with three leather pads attached around a leather band around the shell. The liner is attached to the shell by means of seven rivets that include the linking of the two piece chin strap to the shell. The shell was painted a plain green color, and distinctive Spanish helmets feature a bracket on the front for the optional attachment of insignia for parades and other ceremonies. The Spanish Civil Guard used the same model helmet only; it was painted gray instead of green and featured its own special emblem to be placed on the bracket when the need arose. Later in its military career the M42 would receive a simple khaki green cover for use by the Army, and later in a reversible cover with camouflage patterns unique to Spain known as “Amoeba.” 1979 would see most M42's modernized with a new liner and chin strap known as the M42/79, the liner being made of a combination of leather and canvas with the chin strap being just canvas.

- Warsaw Pact Soviet SSh-68: This is a beautiful helmet in near mint condition, with only scratches and scuffs on the outside of the shell. The helmet is complete and still has stamps present on the inside. The SSh-68 is a steel combat helmet of the Soviet and then Russian Armed Forces. The SSh-68 is a further development of the SSh-60 helmet. It differs primarily in its greater strength, greater front slope of the dome and the shorter outer edge. It is usually painted in dark green. The SSh-68 was used by the armed forces of the Soviet Union and its Warsaw Pact allies, and others. Today, it is still in service in most countries of the CIS, as well as Vietnam, North Korea and Afghanistan. Due to the introduction of improved helmets starting with the original 6B7, the SSh-68 was progressively withdrawn from service. In the Russian Armed Forces, the final examples are being gradually replaced by the newer 6B7-1M and 6B47 helmets.

- U.S. Rear Seam Swivel Bale M1 Helmet by Schleuter: This is a very nice service worn M1 helmet with Vietnam war era helmet liner. The helmet is netted with an early helmet band without cateyes.

- U.S. Rear Seam Swivel Bale M1 Helmet by McCord: This is a very beautiful near mint condition M1 helmet, refitted for use in the Vietnam war and post war use. There is a plain OD green helmet cover, no markings visible. The liner is a beautiful high pressure liner by Westinghouse and is in near perfect condition.
