This may not seem like much but this is one of the most crucial elements you can find in the rear on any battlefield. These desks has a wide variety of uses, whether it be military planning, storage or in this case for medical purposes. A field desk is a portable desk which is meant to be used in rear areas near a battlefield and moved around rather frequently in difficult conditions. It is in contrast to the campaign desk, which is usually heavier and meant for areas further in the rear.
This Army Medical Officer table top fold out desk with original paint in overall fine condition. Drawers function and hinges operate smoothly. This is a wonderful portable mobile desk, ones in excellent condition are exceptionally difficult to find.
Measure 24 ½” x 31 ½” x 13 ¾” when closed.
Enclosed in the field desk were a variety of documents which are as follows:
- “Sample Copy” WWI Era US Army Honorable Discharge Paperwork: The discharge is for Private Ludwig Safar of the 350th Regiment of “National Army”.
- Blank Muster Roll, Allotment of Pay and Pay Roll Documents
- Application For Insurance: The document which is mostly blank was started for Private Jack Radulich.
- Filled Out Postcard With Image of High Bridge in New Jersey: Date sent 1918.
This is a fantastic desk with some lovely contents which are perfect for research projects. Field desks such as this type are extremely difficult to come across in todays market.
