Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Genuine Pre Vietnam War Era U.S. Army M6 bayonet fighting knife for the M-14 Rifle, complete with its original wrapper and 1961 dated box! This bayonet fighting knife was actually introduced and first issued out in 1961, making this an excellent first year production/issue! This knife-style bayonet was based on the M4 bayonet for the M1 Carbine, which was itself based on the M3 fighting knife. The M6 is almost identical, except for the larger muzzle ring to go over the M14's flash hider, and the attaching system.
This example is nicely marked U.S. M7 /MILPAR around the blade on the cross guard. This was manufactured by Columbus Milpar and Manufacture Company, a short lived manufacturer of the M7 bayonets.
The blade is in excellent unissued condition, showing no use at all, just a bit of dust and debris from the wrapping. The blade is still very sharp, with the original factory grind. Grips are the standard hard black checkered phenolic type, and they are in excellent condition, with no cracks or chips or other signs of use.
The bayonet comes wrapped in original corrosion inhibitor paper, and inside an original box indicating that it is a BAYONET-KNIFE, M6. The date on the box is 12/61, so this is definitely a first year issue bayonet.
The perfect accessory for any Vietnam War issue M14 Rifle.
