Blair’s Bronze Star Citation reads:
For heroism not involving participation in aerial flight, in connection with military operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam: On this date, Sergeant Blair was serving as a squad leader with his mechanized company on a battalion-minus reconnaissance in force operation north of Loc Ninh, near the Cambodian border. As the friendly force began to sweep through a North Vietnamese battalion's well fortified base camp, it was suddenly subjected to an intense barrage of rocket-propelled-grenade, automatic weapons, and small arms fire. Although exposed to the vicious enemy fusillade, Sergeant Blair immediately directed his track on line and personally placed his men in strategic positions. Without regard for his personal welfare, he dauntlessly remained at the point of heaviest contact in order to supervise his men's advance and the rapid evacuation of the wounded. When encountered with a well entrenched enemy bunker, Sergeant Blair dismounted his armored vehicle and destroyed the emplacement with hand grenades. His exemplary professional leadership, and bold determination while under the most adverse conditions significantly contributed to the successful outcome of the encounter. Sergeant Blair's outstanding display of aggressiveness, devotion to duty, and personal bravery is in keeping with the finest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself, the Ist Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
This is a phenomenal grouping named to a Vietnam War veteran who passed away extremely prematurely after returning from the War. His legacy is preserved through the preservation of his history which this group provides. We have also added a photograph of Blair to his Find-a-Grave, which was lacking one. Comes ready for further research and display.
