Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent condition M69 Flak Vest Body Armor with 3/4 Collar in a size X-LARGE. These were designed with side drawstrings, snap reinforced front zipper, and front two pockets. This allowed a secure fit and maximum protection from shrapnel and low velocity projectiles.
Widely used by Army infantry, Navy sailors and Marines also equipped these, though not widely. Like its predecessor M-1952A, it was fabricated from 12 plies of ballistic nylon, to protect the wearer form explosion fragments. In fact, the name “M69” is the 1969 version of this series body armor’s model (ARMOR, BODY FRAGMENTATION PROTECTIVE, WITH ¾ COLLAR). Since this series of body armor are similar to each other, people refer all of them by “M69”.
This example is marked Size LARGE / 8470-823-7372 on the top of the label, with stock number DSA-68-C-2375, so this is one of the later versions of the body armor. This looks to be from an order originally placed in 1968, which was then filled over years.
This example is named on the back with REID / 04 / CIWS, which is a great research opportunity.
