Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent example of a completely original, untouched, Vietnam Jungle Fatigue Jacket with “Incountry” Vietnamese-Made insignia for a Pilot who served with the 497th Tactical Fighter Squadron. The 497th operated out of Vietnam and Thailand flying the famous F-4 Phantom Fighter.
The jacket is a 3rd Pattern Ripstop Poplin Jungle Fatigue Jacket, dated 1969, and marked size “Small-Regular”. All insignia sewn onto this garment is 100% period applied, and shows obvious signs on the reverse of being sewn on place for a long time. All insignia is locally procured “incountry” made; with the name tapes, major’s rank oakleaves, and Command Pilot Wings all being hand embroidered! The 497th TFS Pocket patch is also incountry made as well, but appears to have been machine embroidered.
This is a fantastic example of a Vietnam Incountry US Air Force Pilot’s Uniform (ID’d to a unit that saw serious aerial combat, no less!). This is ready to display!
