Original U.S. Vietnam War USMC RT-505B PRC-25 Field Radio Receiver-Transmitter with Accessories

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. The AN/PRC-25 (AKA “Prick-25”) had a relatively short but very successful history. In 1967 General Creighton Abrams, deputy commander of the Military Assistance Command Vietnam called the PRC-25 “The most important tactical item in Vietnam today”. It was still in FM 24-24 as late as 1994 but it was long gone from US active service before then. TM11-5820-398-12 applies, among others.

The Radio set was usually carried on a substantial back pack, as this one is. The backpack itself made it very difficult to put the radio down and have it stand up straight, so for more static emplacements, it would be permanently removed from the pack. You can see from the wear on the bottom of this unit that it was used extensively unmounted

Radio appears to be in good condition but we have not tested functionality. We do not guarantee it will be working, but it appears to be mechanically complete. The battery compartment is empty, however there is a battery contained in the antenna pouch on the side, which is almost certainly dead after all this time.

Also in the pouch are both the short flexible and long rigid antennas, complete with their risers. There is even a spare short flexible antenna, and there is a handset connected to the top of the radio. It has an intact data plate, giving the serial number 81316, as well as the contract information. Additionally. there is a canteen mounted onto the harness, for easy access.
