Item Description
Original Items: One Set only. This is a very nice original pair of 6 POWER Binoculars for the U.S. ARMY SIGNAL CORPS, well marked complete with neck strap and detailed markings on the rear of the barrels. The binoculars are fully functional, with both diopters turning smoothly, and optics intact, though a bit dusty. There is also a wonderful ranging reticule in the left eyepiece.
They are marked with details on left side of eye piece:
30mm
APERT.
6 POWER
The maker is marked on right side of eye piece:
U.S.A.
ROCHESTER, N.Y.
The front side of the binoculars are marked SIGNAL CORPS. / U.S. ARMY on the left and Serial No. EE. 26758 on the right.
They are contained in their original WW1 leather issue carry case with belt loop for Officer's belt to rear. The over the shoulder carry strap has been cut only leaving the portion around the case. The interior of the Case Lid has the same Bausch & Lomb logo as on the binoculars.
Inset into the exterior case lid is a fully working compass which can be "Put at rest" by turning the dial frame anticlockwise and released again by turning the dial frame clockwise. The leather case showing some wear to lid, especially around the edges, but otherwise very good. The binoculars are just splendid.
Ready for use in the WW1 Trenches or to display.
