Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. The American Red Cross made a major contribution to aid the wounded during World War I. Within weeks of the outbreak of the war it dispatched The Mercy Ship, which brought surgeons, nurses, and medical supplies to Europe. When the U.S. entered the war in April of 1917, the organization began a period of remarkable growth, and by war’s end it had become a major humanitarian organization with a record of broad and distinguished service.
The poster features a moving image advertising the need for donations to the Red Cross in order to help protect the soldiers and allies overseas. The poster shows an image of the Statue of Liberty holding a Red Cross circular shield above a bandaged soldier laying on the battlefield with his right arm reaching out.
The message is as follows:
They Fight For You
Protect Them
Help the Red Cross
RAISE $100,000,000 AT ONCE
