Original U.S. WWI US M-1902 Pennsylvania National Guard Infantry Officer's Dress Blue Visor Cap with Direct Embroidered Bullion Insignia - As is

Regular price $225.00

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This M-1902 visor is constructed in a lovely dark blue cotton and is in remarkable condition for its age. The outside of the visor has minor staining with heavy moth nips on the crown but no tearing present. The thin decorative chinstrap is complete and still affixed to the sides with state buttons which we do not believe to be for Pennsylvania.

The front insignia is a lovely example of direct embroidery in gold bullion. The insignia used on the front is the American Eagle seal with a blue keystone in the center, indicating an officer of the Pennsylvania Infantry. The interior features a lovely leather sweatband which has a very faded size stamp, likely 7⅛. There is minor staining present on the lining but the top still features a complete and bold stamping:

JACOB REED’S SONS
FOUNDED 1824
PHILADELPHIA

There is some loss of material around the exterior of the cap but it still displays very well. A lovely example ready for further research and display.

The Pennsylvania National Guard is one of the oldest and largest National Guards in the United States Department of Defense. It traces its roots to 1747 when Benjamin Franklin established the Associators in Philadelphia.
