The Bofors 40 mm gun, often referred to simply as the Bofors gun, is an anti-aircraft autocannon designed in the 1930s by the Swedish arms manufacturer AB Bofors. It was one of the most popular medium-weight anti-aircraft systems during World War II, used by most of the western Allies as well some captured systems being used by the Axis powers. A small number of these weapons remain in service to this day, and saw action as late as the Persian Gulf War.
To help users better understand the equipment they are using, examples like this cutaway were made. These were intended to give the users a look at the internal structure of the explosives, showing the different layers as well as where they connect or thread into each other.
The entire outside of the shell and round were painted OD green, easily removable if you would wish to do so. All components are “frozen” together except for the top part of the fuse, it is still easily removable.
This is a lovely example that lets you take a look at the structural components of the 40mm Bofors gun round.
Comes more than ready for display!
