Original U.S. WWII Airborne Schrade M2 No.1 Knife with Jigged Bone Handle

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. These M2 Paratrooper pockets knives with the early war issue "jigged bone" handles (scales or grip) are among the hardest to find on the market today. This wonderful example offered in very good fully functional condition is marked on the base of the blade ricasso as follows:

SCHRADE
CUT. CO.
WALDEN N.Y.

and:

U.S. PATS.
DEC. 21, 09.
SEPT. 13, 10.
JUNE 6, 16.

These blade markings definitely identify it as the early No.1 version, and it bears the correct jigged bone handle. These were available in this smaller 7 1/4" size, and in a larger 8 3/4" size, with a 4 inch clip point blade. The blade has been sharpened several times over the years, so it is a bit shorter than when issued (2 7/8"), and the profile is slightly different. This knife definitely saw significant use in the field.

The knife still functions correctly, opening and locking into place without assistance. The lock for the release button is also fully functional. The bone handle has a very nice color and aged patina.

A great service used example from WWII, ready to display!
