Original U.S. WWII Anderson Custom Fighting Knife

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. During WW2 the need for fighting knives was so great that many private makers geared up to equip America's fighting men. Tom Anderson of Glendale, California took advantage of the government's release of quality blade steel in the form of the old M-1913 "Patton" cavalry sabers to make high quality private purchase fighting knives. Each Patton saber would yield three usable sections of high quality blade steel, to which Anderson affixed his patented injection molded plastic handle. It was a high tech procedure for the early 1940s.

For many years, Anderson knives were almost impossible to find, until the discovery of some finished and unfinished Anderson knives on his property after he passed away. Of the unfinished knives, many had the production process completed after being discovered. These "modern grind" knives are distinguishable from the older ones by having the original US markings left untouched at the ricasso.

This original US Army USMC WW2 Custom Anderson "Modern Grind" Fighting Knife is in excellent to near mint condition, with no rust, pitting, or patina anywhere on the bowie point blade. The handle is affixed to a hilt section of an M-1913 Cavalry saber, and is marked on the ricasso with its manufacturer, "L.F. & C" (Landers Frary & Clark) and dated 1918. The injection molded plastic handle is marked "ANDERSON / GLENDALE CALIFORNIA" on one side and "MADE IN USA" on the reverse.

Offered in excellent condition, you won't find another one of these anytime soon!
