Item Description
Original Item: Only One Set Available. This is an American World War Two Flight helmet set with goggles. The set includes the following Items:
- USAAF Type B-6 Flying helmet size large with 1/4" shearling leather and seal brown chromed outer shell. The leather is in very good overall condition. It is supple and retains most of the chromed finish. Complete with leather ear cups sewn in place to hold the receivers but the pads on the interior have become detached. The chinstrap is no longer present. Both drawstrings are in place around the face opening. AAF decal and AN inspection stamp externally with a nice mostly clear embroidered label inside. The B-6 was officially replaced by the AN-H-16 in 1943. A great example.
- USAAF flying helmet, type A-9, summer, size LARGE. The A-9 is a simple unlined summer flying helmet constructed from four segments of heavy cotton. It features hooks to fit the harness of either the type A-9 or type A-10 Standard oxygen masks, tie strings (forehead and neck) for adjustment and a fleece-covered leather chin strap. Nice QM tag sewn on the inside. Early WWII era cloth helmet with 1942 contract date.
- Polaroid, All purpose goggle. This is a set of US Army Air Force flight goggles. As issued during WWII. Rubber frame that could be used with multiple lenses for different weather/lighting conditions. Missing the original elastic band.
Overall a very nice set of flight gear ready for further research and display.
