Original Item. Only One Available. This is the stellar medal grouping of Private Elmer Charles Zeok, who served in the Third Army during World War II, being awarded the Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart Medal with an oak leaf cluster, denoting a second award.

The grouping includes
-Zeok’s Bronze Star medal in its original box with lapel pin. Not engraved or numbered.
-Zeok’s Purple Heart in its original box with Oak Leaf Cluster with ribbon & lapel, not engraved but numbered 282515.
-A tarnished bullet without a casing, taken home by Zeok.
-Zeok’s Combat Infantry Badge, marked Sterling on the back.
-Zeok’s 3rd Army patch.
-A newspaper clipping referencing his wounds and awards dated April 13th, 1945.
-15+ pages of printed research on Zeok.

Elmer Charles Zeok was born on October 20th, 1917, in Braddock, Pennsylvania. He entered the service on January 26th, 1944, and served overseas from July 15th, 1944 until April 3rd, 1945. During his time overseas, Zeok was wounded twice, being admitted to the hospital in September 1944 for artillery shell fragments in his ankle & arm. He re-entered the fray in November 1944 and was wounded again being admitted in January 1945 for more artillery shell fragments in his forearm, requiring a Tenorrhaphy surgery. After this, he was sent home and discharged from the hospital in October 1945. Zeok spent the rest of his life in Pennsylvania, working as a steelworker, dying on January 6th, 2003, at the age of 85.
