Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Officially known as CONTAINER, ROUND, INSULATED, M-1941. The M41 mermite container was also used as a blood bank during WW2. This 1943 dated example is nicely maker marked g.p.f & Co.. It does not have inserts, as were used for food, but it is complete with functional; lid can be secured down. The inside tank in lined in what appears to be zinc. These would have been filled with ice then containers of blood packed into the ice for transport and temporary field storage. The M41 is the rarest of all ETO BLOOD BANKS as it was replaced by the M44 later in the war and few M-1941 versions made it back from overseas due to their side and weight (30lbs empty!). The paint appears to be original but we cannot be certain. Regardless, it is in excellent condition, internal tank does show wear, and fully functional for all your blood storage or perishable food transport needs.
