Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very nice identified USMC P-41 Uniform set, including a named jacket, trousers, fatigue cap, cartridge belt, and boots. The set is comprised of the following:
- One size 44" WW2 USMC US Marine Corps P41 USMC Combat Uniform Field Utility Jacket in Olive Drab. These loose fitting sage green herringbone twill (HBT) cotton jackets feature, original “doughnut hole” USMC buttons (all buttons present), gas flap, chest pocket with flap, internal breast pocket, and a CRISP stenciled black USMC EGA insignia. The jacket is stenciled above the breast pocket RAABE, R.G. for Robert George Raabe, who served aboard the USS Minneapolis in the Pacific Theater during the war. Muster rolls show that Raabe participated in the Bombardment of the Marshall Islands (Taroa and Kwajalein), the air assault on Woleai (Caroline Islands), New Guinea, Truk, and Satawan, the shore bombardment of Guam, the shore bombardment and fire support for landings on Okinawa Island, the shore bombardment, fire support, and defense of the landing at Lingeyen Gulf on Luzon Island, and was part of the defending force in Leyte Gulf, Philippine Islands.
- One size 36” WW2 USMC US Marine Corps P41 USMC Combat Uniform Field Utility pants in Olive Drab. These loose fitting sage green herringbone twill (HBT) cotton pants feature, original buttons, hip pockets, two open rear pockets. Also includes the belt. No markings that we can find.
- Daisy Mae HBT Fatigue Hat in Size 6 with very weak tag, appears to be dated 1942. Good shape but stiff.
- One Pair Size 9½C Marine Corps “Boondockers” Boots. Marked 5½ and Dated December 1943. Great pair in service-worn condition with laces intact, although they are torn on one boot.
- M1923 USMC Marked green cartridge belt in service-worn condition with some oxidation.
Robert George Raabe was born on March 12th, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois. Upon his completion of high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on July 2nd, 1943. He was assigned to the Marine Detachment of the USS Minneapolis, which had a long and hectic combat record. Raabe worked as a Heavy Anti-Aircraft Gun Crewman and saw heavy combat in the Pacific, the specifics of which are listed above. Raabe was separated from service on December 25th, 1945, but he would remain in the Marine Corps for much of his life, seeing service as an Officer in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After more than 31 years in the USMC, Raabe retired as a Colonel. He worked as a Geologist for the rest of his life, still keeping up his reserve duties, including as Captain of the USMCR Pistol team. He passed away on January 24th, 2013, at the age of 87.
