This is a nice used example of the web sling used on the U.S. M1 Carbine, a lightweight, easy to use, .30 caliber (7.62 mm) semi-automatic carbine that was a standard firearm for the U.S. military during World War II, the Korean War and well into the Vietnam War. 

The design is a bit unconventional, in that the rear end of the sling is not attached to a swivel, but instead is passed through a hole in the stock and held in place by the steel oiler for the carbine. The rear end of the sling is held in a loop by the steel keeper, which is often lost over time. The front end of the sling attaches to a sling swivel using the lift the dot snap to make a loop. Overall length is 49 inches long, and the sling is 1 inch wide.

This example is in very good condition, but it definitely does show some wear from service. It is a bit dirty, and it has some light grease stains, but nothing major. The lift-the dot is functional, and the sling still has both pinched steel ends intact. The blacked brass finish on the snap is mostly intact.
