Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice example of the rare WWII Vehicle Scabbard for the U.S. M1 Carbine that is in a remarkable state of preservation. The scabbard shows signs of being honestly used, and then looks to have been coated with a wax-like preservative and put into storage. It shows wear to the blacked finish on most of the metal components, and light wear to the leather, which is now a nice russet brown color. The original securing straps are still intact and unbroken, and are complete with the original snap hooks. Overall the leather is definitely stiff due to age, but could probably be restored with saddle soap or something similar.
On the front near the mouth of the scabbard is the correct U.S. marking, next to the full manufacture and inspection markings, which read:
FULTON
L.G. CO.
1943
These were attached to jeeps, motorcycles, horses and other transportation equipment to allow easy access to the weapon. M1 carbine versions are exceptionally hard to find, this is an ideal specimen for the Carbine or vehicle collector alike!
