Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of a WWII Issue Carry Case for the M1 Garand Rifle, officially known as the "semi-automatic rifle, caliber 30, M1." This case was intended for transporting the rifle easily when in non-combat areas, keeping it free from dirt and wear.
This example is maker marked on the interior under the strap reinforcement: M.D. MFG. CO. / 1944. This is a known maker of these cases, and we have seen many other similar examples. This example is made of OD Green #7 Canvas, which has faded a bit over the years. This is a darker, more "green" type of OD green, as typical of later war produced items.
The case is overall very good, with with an intact shoulder strap, working zipper, and no major rips or tears in the fabric. Definitely very good condition for its age. It does appear that the lower strap attachment may have been moved a few inches at arsenal for some reason. There is also what looks to be the word "Arma / cost" written on the reinforcement gusset for the cocking handle, which is not a term we recognize. Measures about 49 inches in overall length.
