Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Standard issue 1907 pattern sling used on the 1903 Springfield rifle and the M1 Garand Rifle made famous as the standard rifle of the U.S. military from WW2 to just before Vietnam.
M1907 WWII "BOYT" Leather Sling in very good condition. The Standard U.S. service rifle Sling at the time of the adoption of the M1917 "Enfield" rifle was the M1907 leather sling used with the M1903 Springfield. The M1907 Sling was adopted for use with the M1 Garand rifle in 1936. The M1907 Sling was used throughout WWII with the "M1" rifle. The adjustment hooks and hardware on early M1907 Slings were made of brass, while the later WWII examples had steel hardware. The M1907 Sling was also utilized with the Winchester M1897 Trench Gun during WWI and on all WWII Winchester, Stevens, Ithaca, etc trench guns and riot guns equipped with slings.
Condition of leather is good and supple, has darkened over time, complete with heavy stitching, both leather keeper loops, proper adjustment holes and both correct pattern steel hooks (fittings) with a very nice patina making them appear almost brass. Some cracking is evident but overall functional and serviceable. An excellent upgrade for any U.S. issue WW2 rifle. Clearly stamped on one end:

The Boyt Harness Company was founded in 1901, in Des Moines, Iowa, to manufacture leather saddles and harnesses, and quickly became known as the regional leader in quality products for the farmer and stockman. As word spread of the pride and craftsmanship with which Boyt products were made, the company was soon the standard bearer for leather products nationwide.
Boyt expanded its line of leather products for the first time during World War I, when it
contracted with the United States Government to supply leather goods to the American forces fighting overseas. These initial military contracts included Boyts first production run of gun cases, holsters, and rifle slings. At the start of World War II, the Boyt Harness Company again contracted with the U.S. Government to design and manufacture high quality military equipment including Jeep scabbards, holsters, ammo belts, and paratrooper carbine cases. The production of wartime leather products made Boyt one of the largest employers in Iowa.
