Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a genuine WWII U.S. Army M4 Carbine bayonet fighting knife with original M8 scabbard. It is nicely marked U.S. M4 / CAMILLUS on the blade side of the cross guard. The bayonet is in good condition, with the expected wear from long service. The blade has some oxidation and finish loss, however there are no major edge nicks or other damage. Definitely was used and cleaned a bit.
The Grip and pommel are all tight to the blade, and the cross guard is solid. The stacked leather grip does show wear and use, and is the type without plastic spacers at the ends. The grooves in the grip are rounded over, and it has the dark color of used leather. The pommel locking mechanism is fully functional and moves easily. A nice example of a service-used M4 bayonet.
Comes complete with an OD green fiber scabbard marked U.S. M8 / B.M. Co, offered in good condition. This design features a a fiberglass body, metal throat, and canvas frog and securing strap. It was manufactured by Beckwith Mfg Co. a division of Victory Plastics, whose stylized V P logo is on the back of the scabbard body. The canvas is in good shape, as are the metal fittings and snap, with expected wear from use. Scabbard body is complete, and does not have a metal tip, correct for the early pattern M8 scabbard. The scabbard body does have a crack on one side, and some deep scratches on both sides near the tip.
The perfect accessory for any WW2 issue M1 Carbine. Ready to display!
