Original U.S. WWII Model 1939 American Service Shoe Low Boot Named to Captain W.N. Cluse - Size 7

Regular price $395.00

Item Description

Original Items: Only One pair Available. Known as the Model 1939 American Service Shoe these low quarter boots were also called walking out boots by USGIs. These were standard issue to US troops serving in the Army and Air Force at the start of the WW2, eventually replaced by the rough-out boot. This pair in excellent wearable condition boot is made from russet brown leather with leather toe cap and a two piece stitched-in rubber sole. Worn in combat with the M1938 leggings, these boots were also popular off-duty. There is a note in the shoes naming them to a Captain W.N. Cluse, Serial number O-1692161, of the 205th Infantry Sp. Bn., A.P.O. 726. We have not conducted any research on Cluse, making this a great project.

There are markings on the insides of the shoes, but they are far too faded to read. The laces are in good shape, but they are very dirty, as are the entire shoes. The leather is a bit weak all around, so please be careful when handling them. The tongues of both shoes have some light leather damage, but this isn’t too serious. They are marked Size 7 on the bottom of the sole.

A very nice set of M1939 Service shoes with a lot of research potential. Comes ready for further research and display.
