Item Description
Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This very U.S. Navy USN WW2 Dungaree Jumper is featured on page 181 U.S. Navy Uniforms and Insignia 1943-1946 (U.S. Navy Uniforms in World War II Series) by Jeff Warner. In fact this jacket was purchased by IMA from the estate of Mr. Warner along with much of his personal collection.
The dungaree jumper is distinguishable by its two layer lower pockets and roll collar. They were typically worn for work details and were heavier than the chambray shirt which also made it longer wearing. Dungaree jumpers feature black plastic buttons with a distinctive "Navy" and anchor design in high relief on the front. (J. Warner)
The reverse of this example in stenciled white paint reads: ZUCK, W.K. / US NAVY. Included with the purchase of this jacket are printed scans of the pages on which it is featured.
