Original U.S. WWII New Old Stock M1910 Entrenching Hand Axe by American Fork & Hoe Dated 1945 With 1944 Dated Canvas Carry Case

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent example of an unissued M1910 hand axe that would be considered “new old stock”. These light duty axes were issued to each and every field medic and one per infantry squad. They were issued with an OD green cover and worn on the web belt. The most common encountered examples were made by the well known Plumb, while this one is the scarcer American Fork & Hoe made.

The axe is in wonderful condition and shows no signs of use. It still retains the original green paint on both the head and the wood handle which presents itself without any cracks. The cheek of the head is still clearly marked with U.S. / AMERICAN FORK & HOE CO. 1945.

The canvas carry case is also in excellent, unissued condition with clear bold markings. The front cover is marked with the correct U.S. while the back side retains full manufacture information; AMER. FAB. CO. 1944. The buckle and belt loop retain nearly all of the original black paint with only a minor blemish present on the loop though buckle.

A great example ready for further research and display.
