Original U.S. WWII Rare Camouflage Painted Low Pressure M1 Helmet Liner

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very rare WWII Issue M1 "Low Pressure" Helmet Liner. which has been painted on the outside with a very good camouflage paint scheme. The weight of the complete helmet could be cumbersome in some situations, such as working behind the enemy lines, and this provided some level of protection from branches and other minor obstacles. The camouflage paint job made the soldier that much harder to spot.

This rare early-war "low pressure" liner, was constructed of rubber fiber, and these were the thinnest construction of all WWII Liners. Due to wear and dirt, there is no maker marking that we are able to see, but this is definitely the low pressure version, as indicated by the pattern on the inside. The low pressure liners were quickly deemed insufficient by the military, so new contractors were found to make the "high pressure" liners. These liners are rare in and of themselves, but with this camouflage paint, it is a real treat.

This true US WWII M-1 helmet liner be identified through the frontal eyelet hole. Other correct WWII features include cotton OD Green #3 herringbone twill (HBT) cloth suspension liner, held onto the helmet by "A" shaped washers. From the looks of it, this helmet liner saw extensive use in the field, and was even repaired with a canvas strap. Perhaps it was used in the Pacific theater, where replacements were not as easy to find.

A really interesting camouflage painted "Low Pressure" helmet liner from WWII, which would be a great addition to any collection!
