Original U.S. WWII Unissued M1 Carbine Ammo Pouch & Canvas Web Sling with Keeper - Both Dated 1943

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Set Available. This is a fantastic find! Here we have a great original unissued sling and ammo pouch set for the U.S. WWII M1 Carbine. This was a lightweight, easy to use, .30 caliber (7.62 mm) semi-automatic carbine that was a standard firearm for the U.S. military during World War II, the Korean War and well into the Vietnam War. Both the sling and ammo pouch show no signs of use.

The sling is marked S.M. Co. / 1943 between the snaps, and still has the double-ring keeper. The "Lift the Dot" snap works great, and the metal fittings have just the tiniest bit of oxidation around them.

The ammo pouch is in similar condition, marked on the back LAIRD SCHOBER / 1943, and with a clear U.S. stamped on the front. The canvas is excellent, and there is just a bit of verdigris on the snaps.

If you have a WWII M1 carbine that you were hoping to kit out, this is your chance!

More on the M1 Carbine Sling & Pouch

The design of the M1 Carbine sling is a bit unconventional, in that the rear end of the sling is not attached to a swivel, but instead is passed through a hole in the stock and held in place by the steel oiler for the carbine. The rear end of the sling is held in a loop by the steel keeper, which is often lost over time. The front end of the sling attaches to a sling swivel using the lift the dot snap to make a loop.

The M1 Carbine Magazine Pouch is designed to fit two 15 round magazines, and was originally intended as a belt pouch that would attach to the snap. However it was discovered that it could also fit over the carbine, and would rest securely on the butt stock area. Accounts differ on whether when on the gun it was used more for magazines or stripper clips.
