Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a great example of a World War II U.S. Army Air Force Type A-1 folding machete survival knife. These were manufactured by Imperial Knife Co. Providence RI. as stamped on left ricasso: IMPERIAL / PROV. R.I.. Adopted by the US Military in 1942 for the B-4 emergency bail out kit usually attached to the parachute harness. The machete has checkered black plastic grip panels and a blued steel blade.
There is a guard system built into the machete that when closed, the metal guard protects the blade. When open, the guard flips closed to lock the blade in place with a small thumb button, which must be pushed back to release the guard and close the blade.
The blade on this example is in very good condition, with the original shape well retained, and no edge nicks or chips. It has not been sharpened and has the original blued finish, except on the ricasso. The blade guard is in excellent condition, showing no real damage or oxidation. The grips are in very good shape, showing no wear.
A great chance to add a hard to find survival tool to your collection!
