Original U.S. WWII US Army Field Ration C, B Unit - Unopened, Dated January 1942

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. During World War Two, the Ration, Type C was an individual ration intended to feed one Service Member for one meal.

This example was brought home by a WWII U.S. GI and is an original UNOPENED - U.S. ARMY FIELD RATION C "B UNIT" can that appears to be stamped on the top of the steel lid 1-42 along with maker code we believe to be National Biscuit Company, but it is difficult to read.

The can is in good condition. Minor dents and rust without the key which is often missing from the bottom as is the case with almost all surviving cans. The can measures 3.5" H and 3.5" in diameter. The field ration can has a list on front that reads:

U.S. ARMY FIELD RATION C
B UNIT
CONTENTS
2.50 OZ BISCUIT
1.00 OZ CONFECTION
.50 OZ SUGAR
.25 OZ SOLUBLE COFFEE

The C Ration was an individual canned, pre-cooked and prepared wet ration. It was intended to be issued to U.S. Military Forces when fresh food (A Ration) or packaged unprepared food (B Ration) prepared in mess halls or field kitchens was impractical or not available and when survival (K or D Rations) were insufficient.

Idiot Clause - the contents of this kit are pre-1945 manufacture and are NOT suitable for consumption. They are being sold as novelty collector pieces only. Even though some people on youtube have tried.
