Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Now this is a fantastic memento from towards the end of the war. The photos in the album are from late 1944 to the time of the surrender in 1945 and possibly later. The album itself belonged to Seaman 1st Class James “Rusty” Turner, an African-American serving in the US Navy.
The album is constructed with a beautiful wood cover which does have faint etching on the face. There are approximately 97 photos with about a dozen or so newspaper clippings and drawings. Most of the images appear to be from the South Pacific and S1c Turner was kind enough to label nearly all of his photos and pages! There are some photos that would be considered inappropriate for younger viewers, so be mindful. There are some images that are a little damaged and cracked, so do use caution when flipping through the pages.
A lovely look into the past from a proud sailor serving in the United States Navy during WWII. Comes more than ready for further research and display.
