Original U.S. WWII USMC HBT Herringbone Twill P44 Combat Field Utility Jacket - Size 44-46

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Very good  condition Size 42-44" WW2 USMC US Marine Corps P44 USMC Combat Field Utility Jacket in Olive Drab Herringbone Twill. It does not have a size marking, but it measures 24 inches across when laid flat. This loose fitting sage green herringbone twill (HBT) cotton jacket features, original blacked brass "doughnut hole" USMC buttons which are still partly blacked, breast pocket and stenciled black USMC EGA insignia.

Jacket is marked RHO-23 inside the neck, and appears to have an ink stamp over the left breast pocked, though we are not able to read it. There is also a grease stain on the right chest.

The P44 Jacket was the second Utility Jacket the Marine Corps patterned during WW2, and replaced the earlier P41 Utility Jacket. The P41 had three sewn on flapless pockets, while the P44 has a flap over the breast pocket where the EGA is. The waist pockets were replaced with two large slit pockets that cover the entire chest area, where life preservers can be inserted. The front of the P44 also has inner and outer closure buttons for a more secure fastening, required if used as a life preserver.

Offered in very good condition.
