Original Victorian Continental Copy Beaumont-Adams Patent Revolver Marked Manton & Son Calcutta

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a .442 calibre (54-bore, 11.2mm) continental copy of the Beaumont-Adams patent five shot double action percussion revolver. It is numbered 2423 and nicely marked on the top strap: Manton & Son Gun Makers, London & Calcutta. It dates between 1862-1880.

It was discovered in Nepal in 2003 in less than ideal storage conditions. The lever on the left hand side of the barrel is missing its drum for loading the lead ball into the cylinder. Revolver generally shows use including a chip to the hammer head and to the checkered wood grip. Cycles well and action is tight.

A very interesting example of a British Officer's private purchase revolver that may have seen service in the Indian Mutiny.
