Original Item: One-of-a-kind. In WWI times in the trenches hard, raw materials were short, the soldiers spent most of their time below the surface of the earth.
Here is a typical piece of "trench art".
Made from solid brass this is in fact two pieces used in the construction of perhaps the French answer to the American Zippo?
A lovely petrol fueled thumb striking cigarette lighter of all brass construction with an airplane on one side and the Aero unit designation on the reverse. When closed it resembles a box of matches. The lighter appears to be in full working order but we are unable to test it.
