Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is and officer's French Foreign Legion kepi. This is the lower height style kepi they first started using after phasing out the floppy or "bummer" type kepis. This style was only worn for a short time during WWI into the early 1920's. The badge 3rd division is metal which is correct as the Legion did not start wearing kepi badges until the ned of WWI. Therefore, early kepi's always have metal badges or sewn cloth badges (the exception being custom tailored variations).
This is example is a high quality kepi, most likely private purchase. It was issued to an offer with quatrefoil design to the crown. Interior has leather sweatband and maker stamp to the lining. Size is approximately 6 3/4 (52cm). Overall condition is very good, with typical signs of wear and age.
