Original WWI Imperial German Army Officer's Sword with Etched Blade and Scabbard

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a classic German WWI Artillery Officer's sword. The nickeled brass alloy hilt consists of a blucher type design. The blade, although tired, still exhibits a full etched blade.

The scabbard Is made of black leather with nickeled brass alloy fittings similar to the hilt. The scabbard and hilt are unit marked “K.P.E.” on each with a number below each unit stamp. We were unable to determine the unit, unfortunately… but this does yield an opportunity for further research. There are signs of obvious wear, with some loose stitching and even some glue around the top band fitting. Since Officer’s in the Imperial German Army still carried their swords into the field during WWI, it is not completely uncommon to see these swords with a great deal of use. The grip is a very nice black leather over a wood base. It is wrapped with three strands of twisted silver wire.

The 33 inch blade of this sword is in decent condition, and shows signs of use from accumulated years in storage, mostly along the edge and tip. These were originally intended ceremonial swords, and not really intended for cutting. The blade has a brushed steel finish, with floral designs, a likeness of Kaiser Wilhelm II, military motifs, etc throughout running half way up the blade.

Overall a very good condition high quality Imperial German Officer’s Sword. Ready to hang on the wall!
