Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely, service worn wrist compass that was utilized by German pilots during WWII. Made by Kadlec in Czechoslovakia and introduced as AK-39 Armband-Kompass 1939 (wrist compass) to the Luftwaffe. The Luftwaffe register number is Fl 23235-1 with Fl standing for Fliegermaterial i.e. aeronautical materiel. The diameter is 60 mm. The liquid inside is present and pure petroleum (kerosene), which can be exchanged or refilled during inspection.
This model allowed the setting of a course by means of two white rotating semi-circular sheets located at the underside. Moreover, rifle-type sighting aids allowed the taking of a bearing (on the ground if downed). Red sighting aids date the compass to the 1942-1944 period of the war. Offered in good condition with a slightly torn arm band.
