Original WWII German Panzer III Tank Track Road Wheel

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. The road wheels (also called bogies if they are mounted on trucks) support the weight of the tank or other tracked vehicle while rolling over the continuous track. This road wheel we believe belonged to a Panzerkampfwagen III, commonly known as the Panzer III. The Panzer III was a medium tank developed in the 1930s by Germany, and was used extensively in World War II.

This wheel would be considered relic condition due to the amount of deterioration to the steel inner structure of the wheel itself. There are big sections of steel that have completely rotted away. There are no markings visible on the steel wheel but there are markings visible on the rubber tire which is the maker and tire size.

The markings are as follows:

Continental-Elastics
455/100-305

Continental was founded in 1871 as a rubber company. Headquartered in Hanover, Germany, it today makes automobile and bicycle tires as well as brake systems, and automotive electronics. During the early years of the NSDAP era the firm made rubber soles for shoes and boots but as Continental’s management fell under the sway of NSDAP ideology it was given government contracts to manufacture a wider range of products.

Approximate Dimensions: 18” x 18” x 5”
