Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice condition Imperial Japanese WW2 Officer's canvas map case, well-marked with Kanji characters in ink on the exterior. An Imperial Japanese Navy Officer’s Cap Device has been applied to the flap of the case. It is not clear if this was done by the Japanese that carried the case, or by an American GI who took the case as a souvenir.
The Map Case features a leather with steel buckle closure, canvas shoulder strap, and writing instrument pockets on the exterior. The reverse of the mapcase features a sewn on thick russett brown reinforcement, that acts as a stiffener, and also to give the user a place to use to write on documents, if need be. A stiff rig leather form is intact within the inside of the map case. The only detraction is that there is an area on the reverse of the map case where the stitching has come loose. This is the rare late war style as early and mid war were comprised of thick leather.
