Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good example of an Imperial Japanese Navy Pilot & Aircrew parachute pack, which is unfortunately empty. These were used mostly in bombers and other aircraft with space to have a crew, and not in fighters. The pack has a rigid portion inside, and measures approximately 16" by 16". It is made from green canvas with yellow-orange trim, which we assume made them easier to see inside the airplane
There is a white cotton label in Japanese on the exterior of the tan canvas pack, which indicates the type of parachute that it is, and gives a production number of 1901945 next to the Naval ANCHOR inspection stamp. There is a date listed of 19. 7. 3., for July 3rd, 1944 (Showa 19). The bottom line is the manufacturer, Fujikura Aircraft Industries. Ltd.
Condition is very good, though there is some dirt and staining, as well as some holes that may have rotted out over the years. A great Japanese WWII Display piece!
