Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Scarce WWII U.S. home front Anti Axis Pin Cushion. It is marked on the rear of the base with PAT. PEND 1941 CPE, indicating it was made under a patent filed during 1941. We have seen other examples indicating the patent was filed on November 17th, interestingly less than a month before America’s entry into World War Two. This item just goes to show the anti-German sentiment that existed before December 7th, 1941.
These are scarce items today simply because they were not very well made to begin with. Cast from plaster, with an applied cotton bound batting-filled pin cushion. The figurine is hand painted, with most of the original paint still present. The figure measures approximately 5 inches tall.
These originally came with a paper tag tied around the neck (tag for this example is missing) which would have read:
Hotzi Notzi
Its good luck to find a pin
Here’s an “Axis” to stock it in
And the reverse:
He who seeks to stick others-
Himself gets stuck in the end.
A great item to add to a WWII collection! Certainly a conversation piece in its own right. These are getting harder and harder to find every year.
