Original Item: Only One Available. WWII U.S. Navy Flare/ Signal Pistol made by Signal Pyrotechnic Company of Los Angeles, California during WWII. This is a very large flare gun intended to launch (approximately) 37mm flares. Chrome finish to inhibit rust aboard ship, this pistol measures 11"x8.5" with a 1.5" barrel opening.
This pistol is features a break-open operation. Embossed on both side of the crosshatch grip in raised letters: SIGNAL / PYROTECHNIC CO. / LOS ANGELES. The Chrome plated steel barrel has very chrome loss. Very good markings and condition with only a few very minor surface blemishes. The serial number is 13517. Excellent overall condition, in complete working order with firing pin still present. The original white canvas lanyard is still intact as well!
These flare guns were made for commercial and military wartime use. Imagine being stranded in a life raft, after the sinking of your ship by a U-Boat, the most valuable item in your survival kit may have been this flare gun. The gun has certainly seen service and an interesting life; if it could only talk!
