Original WWII U.S. Officer BRITISH MADE M1936 Pistol Belt, M1911 Holster, 1911 Magazine Pouch, First Aid Pouch with Carlisle Dressing & Canteen, Cup, and BRITISH MADE Cover

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Set Available. A nice set of accouterments for a WWII GI armed with a 1911 or 1911A1 Pistol. A few of the pieces are British Made, which are much less common than the average US made examples. British made gear was part of the lend lease program, and was devised to reduce logistics in outfitting troops in Europe. A large number of troops on D-Day were equipped with British made pieces of kit. All items in this lot are are genuine World War Two U.S. issue items.

The set consists of the following:

- Original WWII issue M1911 leather holster by Warren Leather Goods: The holster is in decent condition, showing signs of being well used. Leather is still pliable. Could be cleaned up if one so desired quite easily.

- Original WWII issue BRITISH MADE M1936 pistol belt stamped U.S. and dated 1944: The US stamp is really clear and the belt itself is free of damage. There is also a maker mark, but unfortunately it is illegible. Certainly a British-Made Belt, with the “tell tale” signs being the Buckle, style of eyelets and webbing used, and the style of the “U.S.” stamp. Belt has the GI’s name “JOHN MCGOWAN” written on the back

- Original WWII issue M1911 double magazine web pouch dated 1918: Free of damage and looks to have seen very little use in service. It is marked on the interior of the closure flap “L.C.C.& Co.1918

- Original WWII issue M-1924 first aid web pouch and Carlisle Dressing: Free of damage and the stampings are illegible. Dressing packet is in very good condition and made by The Handy Pad Company..

- M-1910/42 Canteen Set: Consists of British Made Cover with faint 1943 Date stamp, 1944 Dated Canteen Cup, and 1944 Dated Canteen

This is a beautiful and iconic belt rig set up for Officers and NCOs alike! Comes more than ready to be displayed.

The United States Army in World War II had a distinct advantage over the Axis when it came to equipment. Both in terms of quality and quantity the power of American industry kept the GI’s well supplied.

For a Soldier, equipment is a matter of survival. Even something as simple as a button can make the difference between victory and defeat if it fails to function properly at the wrong time. For this reason Soldiers have a strong tendency to become attached to equipment they like, and to modify or discard equipment they find unreliable or useless. Among the Infantry, who have to carry their equipment wherever they go, this tendency is even stronger.

Soldiers must carry everything they need for combat operations with them at all times. Individual load carrying equipment is designed to allow the Soldier to carry a basic load of ammunition, food, water, and first-aid gear. The exact make-up of this load varies from conflict to conflict. In more modern times the load has grown to include additional equipment such as gas masks, maps, compasses, and radios. Because the cost of replacing equipment for Soldiers is high, equipment is usually replaced in phases, with front-line troops receiving the new equipment first. Support units typically receive equipment later as older equipment wears out or becomes obsolete. Because of this, Soldiers in World War II went to war using several different versions of the basic load bearing gear.
